The pediatric emergency department is housed at the Jacobi Medical Center. It includes:

• 15 exam rooms
• 2 state of the art trauma bays with direct access to the ED radiology suite
• 16-patient asthma treatment area staffed around the clock with respiratory therapists.
• A special child abuse interview room

It is the only Level I pediatric trauma center in the Bronx and one of the busiest trauma centers in New York State. Thirty thousand children under the age of 21 years are cared for each year in our department. Patient care is provided by residents from the Departments of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine under the supervision of pediatric emergency medicine faculty.
